Project Highlights
The works is an emergency utility project which needs to excavate below the road to carry out repairs and remove the waste for disposal. The intention had been to remove the waste under RPS211 until Ecofficiency checked the scope and the project didn’t qualify for this position statement as the quantity of waste exceeded 10m3. However, the project needed to be completed within the week which didn’t allow for time for lab tests.
Project Management
A pre-phase sampling plan was prepared by Ecofficiency to identify the sample locations prior to attending site.
Once complete, Ecofficieny mobilised to site to conduct RMT analysis of the waste for hydrocarbons and metals to check the classification prior to removal from site to ensure the removals were compliant with WM3.
The Results
It was identified on Friday evening that analysis needed to be carried out, Ecofficiency mobilised to site on Monday and the test results were published before the end of the day on Monday. This then allowed for the waste removals to commence on Tuesday with all waste removed within the one day, allowing the total volume to be removed ahead of schedule, allowing the client to complete their works without delays.
By using Ecofficiency’s RMT classification of soils service, we were able to avoid landfill, which fell in line with the clients targets of landfill diversion.
