Hill’s– Rubicon Scheme has won Ecofficiency’s Best Practice Award for February 2022
Hill has been presented with the Best Practice Award for February 2022 based on these three categories:
- Carbon Footprint reduction of 70%
- Low Waste Intensity Score: < 3 Tonnes per 100m3
- Project Manager Richard and his site teams’ enthusiastic attitude toward segregation and the Managed Waste Service
Prior to working with Eco, there were no systems in place for waste segregation on the Rubicon development, using primarily 8y -12y Mixed Waste skips for all waste.
After meeting with Hill on site, we began to implement our managed waste solution and as well as our EcoBale system. The use of EcoBale gives greater visibility of waste arisings, leading to overall waste minimisation. Each bale collection saves around 14 vehicle movements to the site, leading to a 70% reduction on carbon footprint.
Since implementation, Ecofficiency have delivered regular Toolbox talks to the site and recently, we presented our new Toolbox Talk video to 150 trades, engaging all site staff and contractors, to ensure that the revised waste strategy is implemented by all. This, along with the teams proactive attitude towards our Managed Waste Service, has resulted in the waste intensity figure being reduced to less than 3 Tonnes per m3.
Project Manager for Hill, Richard Dunmore, said “Ecofficiency have been appointed to work with Hill on Rubicon they have made a real difference on how the site deals with the day to day waste produced. Through training /toolbox talks and one to one with subcontractors the education has been given to enable individuals to see what is needed for a greener future. All of the above has assisted in the segregation of waste to the correct skips ahead of them coming back to the waste collection point which makes it a lot easier to then put the waste in the right locations.
Ecofficiency arrange skip exchanges, pallet collections and grab lorry’s for the hard-core produced. They have also supplied a baler and training that allows all packaging to be compressed in bundles, making it easier for storage until collected. I hope to continue working with Ecofficiency on my future schemes,”.
